The Texas Freedom Network invites clergy and religious leaders to come to the state Capitol for a day of 'Texas Faith in Action.'
TFN is hosting a day of action for Texas religious leaders, which will include a short briefing on important religious liberty issues at the Texas Legislature, followed by a service of prayer and public witness at the outdoor rotunda of the Texas Capitol. The event at the Capitol -- open to media -- will publicly announce a statement signed by more than 350 Texas clergy in support of access to birth control. All religious leaders are invited to attend one or both of these events. Register to attend by completing the information in the right sidebar.

Religious Freedom Briefing & Lunch
Texas Freedom Network staff (and invited policy experts) will provide an overview of important legislative issues dealing with religious liberty and the separation of church and state in Texas, including the latest information on private school vouchers, creationism in science classes and public school Bible courses. We will give special attention to the ongoing threats to family planning and birth control access in our state. Plus, we’ll give you some practical tips for how to be an effective advocate for these issues when you meet with elected officials.
Texas Religious Leaders Support Access to Birth Control: A Gathering for Prayer and Public Witness
Religious leaders from various faith traditions and denominational backgrounds are invited to join a gathering at the Capitol to express moral and religious support for women’s access to basic preventive healthcare services — including birth control and family planning. The short service will include interfaith prayers and readings from select participants. The event will also announce a list of more than 350 religious leaders across the state of Texas that have signed TFN's clergy statement in support of access to birth control.
The purpose of this gathering is to draw attention to the many faith leaders throughout the state who, because of their religious convictions, support access to contraception and birth control for Texas families. We hope this witness will encourage state leaders to restore funding to family planning programs during the current legislative session.
Legislative Visits
If you would like to take an opportunity to speak about these issues -- or other justice concerns -- with your own state representative or senator, the TFN staff can help you schedule a lobby visit in the afternoon following the press event. Just indicate your interest when you complete the registration information above.
